The Cycle Zombies family. Taylor on the wall.
May 29, 2020

Life at the Stopnik’s. Taylor and Big Scott at Scotty’s house. The Cycle Zombies family seems to have a very cool balance between daily life and life at large (and I mean living very large). I’ve shot them in SoCal and Japan, but have to figure out a way to go on a ride with them somewhere. Much respect CZ.

As to why I am attracted to this image; basically, there’s so much going on. Taylor’s sliding down the coping, Big Scott mid-stride, bike’s scattered about and their Tradesman in the foreground. It all seems to somehow come into a balance that works for me, so I’ll be printing this one for the Sturgis exhibition. (one of 110 framed prints!)

For anyone that may have followed yesterday’s post, and may be curious about “the rest of the story," Vincent Sommers whose Mom Jane was Jeff’s girlfriend at the time and was in the photos got back to me to after seeing the post and wrote, I’ve been building bikes for 20 years and had occasionally put the word out, but Jeff and the bike disappeared. Amazingly, a mate of mine was working in Bristol just after and before Jeff’s passing and got talking to Jeff’s neighbor and put the two of us in contact. When Jeff passed, his neighbor and friend posted me a huge stack of photos of mum, the bike and us kids. The bike was unfortunately missing. Well, it was missing until he tried to clear the flat and found the engine and trans hidden in the sofa. It took a while and involved a friend of Jeff’s but I ended up with the opportunity to purchase the motor, trans, oil tank and a bunch of smalls. So Dirty Jeff’s flathead has started another journey. There was a temptation to rebuild it as it was, but there’ll only be one “Home Brew”, so expect Jeff’s Flathead to be on the road very soon.” There is more to this story, but I’ll wait until I shoot Vincent’s bike somewhere down the road to tell it.   #cyclezombies @cyclezombies, @czbigscott, @taylorstopnik, #taylorstopnik, @harleydavidson, #harleydavidson #harleydavidsonmotorcycles, #panhead, #nikonlove, #nikonlife, #nikonnofilter, @nikonusa, @vincent_summers76
